Stock Count Reconciliation & Adjustment Worksheet formulas
Selected physical quantity = verified recount if supplied, otherwise first count. Unit variance = selected physical quantity − book quantity. Cost variance = unit variance × entered unit inventory cost.
Worked example with fictional data
The fictional bag has 50 book units and an initial count of 47. A verified recount of 48 replaces the initial count for the proposal: 48 − 50 = −2 units. At $12 per unit, the proposed value adjustment is −$24, with $24 of shortage value.
Choose Load fictional example above to reproduce these results. Sample records are illustrative and are not a recommended target or policy.
Review the result before acting
If the first count is wrong, preserve it and enter a recount rather than changing the book balance to force a match. Record the explanation, check receipts and dispatches around the cutoff, and keep an approved record outside this worksheet. A zero net value can conceal a shortage on one SKU and a surplus on another; review the separate totals.
What the planner does not cover
Use the same units, location and cutoff for book and counted stock. This is a count reconciliation, not an available-to-sell calculation. It does not identify theft, establish a write-off policy or update an inventory system. Cost variance uses your entered cost and excludes unentered landed-cost adjustments.
Save, restore and export
Add entry creates another record. Edit any field directly or use Remove entry to delete a row. Changing inputs clears the previous report so it cannot be mistaken for current results. Choose Calculate / review results again when your changes are ready.
Save on this device keeps an editable worksheet in this browser only. On a later visit in this browser, your saved worksheet loads automatically. Restore device save can also reload the last save after you confirm replacement. Saving drafts is allowed, but a report requires valid, complete inputs. Download backup creates a versioned JSON file for the same tool. Import backup shows the worksheet label and row count before replacing current work; it does not change the device save until you press Save.
Download CSV exports the settings, summary, row details and calculation notes. CSV is for spreadsheet review; it cannot restore this worksheet. Print / Save PDF recalculates the current entries and opens your browser’s print dialog. Choose Save as PDF where supported. The report excludes navigation, guides and product CTAs. Clear data removes the current worksheet and its device save after confirmation; keep a backup first if needed.
Use a personal browser for private records and keep important backups separately. Entered worksheet fields are not included in our planner-action analytics.
On Android Chrome, device save stays in the same browser. Keep a JSON backup for portability. For PDF, use the browser print dialog and choose Save as PDF when available; printer and share menus vary by device. Physical phone behavior depends on the device and is not certified by desktop browser tests.
Frequently asked questions
Does a recount of zero get ignored?
No. An entered zero is a valid verified count; only a blank recount falls back to the first count.
Does this post an adjustment to my store?
No. The report is a proposal for review. Apply approved corrections in your actual stock system.
Can I count one SKU in two places?
Yes. Use a distinct SKU / location label for each row so the same location is not entered twice.
Is it free, and where is my information saved?
The worksheet is free without an account. Save on this device uses this browser’s storage; clearing browser data can remove it. Download a JSON backup for editable recovery. There is no cloud sync or automatic monitoring. CSV and PDF are reports and cannot restore the worksheet.
