Monthly Teacher Planner: Lessons and Preparation Dates

Monthly Teacher Planner: Lessons and Preparation Dates editorial planning illustration
Conceptual editorial illustration of this planning topic.

A monthly teacher planner should show what must be ready before each lesson. Put the lesson date, preparation due date, materials and responsible person in the same record so a full teaching calendar does not hide unfinished preparation.

Use the free Monthly Teacher Lesson Planner to enter your own assumptions, calculate the report and keep an editable backup. No account is needed.

Separate teaching dates from preparation dates

Enter the teaching month in YYYY-MM format and choose a preparation review date. Add each lesson or class group on its actual lesson date. Give preparation an earlier due date when printing, equipment booking or another person's review needs lead time. Preparation can fall in the previous month; the lesson must belong to the month you are planning. This avoids forcing a September preparation task into October just because the lesson occurs in October.

Write the material task so another person can act

Instead of writing worksheets, specify Print 24 fraction-strip sheets and check the worked example. Name the person who will do the preparation. Materials can also be a reference to a file you keep elsewhere, but the worksheet does not upload or verify that file. Avoid entering confidential student records; this planner only needs the lesson/group label and preparation task. Keep learning outcomes and assessment evidence in your appropriate teaching records.

Review the fictional two-lesson month

A Grade 4 fractions lesson takes place on October 16. Its preparation due date is October 12, owner Teacher, and status In progress. At an October 13 review, it is overdue for preparation even though the lesson is still three days away.

A second lesson on October 19 has October 16 preparation marked Ready, so it is not overdue. The worksheet counts two lessons, one ready preparation and one overdue preparation. It does not infer whether the ready materials are educationally adequate.

Use a short weekly preparation meeting

At the start of the week, sort the dated report and check the next lessons. Confirm that a Ready status has actual materials behind it. For overdue preparation, decide whether to finish the original task, reduce the activity or move a dependency with the appropriate person. Preserve the report before changing next month's plan. A lesson date change does not automatically move its preparation date, so review both fields together after a timetable change.

Keep teacher and student planning distinct

This tool coordinates preparation for teaching. A student planner works from assignments, study blocks and deadlines; it does not automatically provide lesson administration. Use the existing academic-planner guide for a student's term map and the homeschool planning product only where its documented features fit. The free worksheet does not certify curriculum coverage, maintain a regulated attendance record, send reminders or decide learning needs.

Questions about the monthly teacher planner

Can two groups have lessons on the same date? Yes, as separate records; there is no timetable conflict check. Can I reuse the setup?

Save a JSON backup and change the month and dates after importing. Is Ready an automatic test? No; it is the preparation owner's recorded judgment and should be backed by a real materials check.

Keep a version you can review

Save on this device keeps the worksheet in the current browser. Download a JSON backup for an editable copy before changing assumptions. CSV is a calculated report; Print / Save PDF produces a browser print copy. Device saving does not provide cloud synchronization. A static PDF needs its own annotation and backup workflow.
